Description

This is a beautiful Navajo handcrafted Tufa Cast Ring size 9 1/2 by Delbert Alviso. This ring is crafted from Sterling Silver with the image of a horse head and features a small Sleeping Beauty Mine Turquoise Stone. The reverse of the ring is signed by Delbert noted as DA and is stamped Sterling.

The face of this ring measures approximately 1 3/8 inch from top to bottom. Total weight of this piece is 13.8 grams.

Tufa is porous rock made of volcanic ash used to form a casting mold. The Tufa Stone is cut to the desired size and shape. Once completed molten sterling silver is poured into the mold through a spruce hole. After the sterling silver cools and hardens, the carved design is visible and the Tufa leaves a textured surface on the metal. Jewelry such as a bracelets and rings are cast flat and then hammered into shape. The Tufa cast can only be used once.

This ring comes with the original Tufa Cast that was used to create this work of art.
