Description

This is a beautiful Navajo handcrafted Tufa Cast Bracelet by Delford Yazzie. This bracelet is crafted from Sterling Silver with a center Royston Mine Turquoise stone. The reverse of the bracelet is signed by Delford noted as D and is stamped Sterling.

The bracelet measures approximately 5 1/8 inches on the inside from tip to tip with an additional 1 1/2 inch opening between the tips. The setting at the front is 1 1/8 inches tall and the tips are 1 1/8 inch tall. Note that this bracelet cannot be adjusted at all due to the Tufa construction.

Tufa is porous rock made of volcanic ash used to form a casting mold. The Tufa Stone is cut to the desired size and shape. Once completed molten sterling silver is poured into the mold through a spruce hole. After the sterling silver cools and hardens, the carved design is visible and the Tufa leaves a textured surface on the metal. Jewelry such as a bracelets and rings are cast flat and then hammered into shape. The Tufa cast can only be used once.

This bracelet come with the original Tufa Cast that was used to create this work of art.
