Description
  • This Totem Figure is a limited edition creation by Kevin Gadomski and his son Tanner. Each Totem Figure is hand signed, Dated and is a numbered edition. This is The Bald Eagle and is number 59 of 100 of this limited edition. Tanner’s native heritage is from the Turtle Clan of the Grand Portage Band of the Ojibway, on his mother’s side, whose grandmothers on both sides were full Anishinabe as well as his grandfather who was half Cree. Kevin and his son Tanner have signed and dated the Totem in 2011. The Bald Eagle Totem measures approximately 21 1/2 inches tall from the base of the Totem to the top of the head feathers.

  • The Ojibway believe every animal has its own individual fits and unique talents and power. Animals were chosen as personal totems by one who hoped to gain an animal’s special powers through emulating that animal’s behavior and characteristics. Animals have the ability to sense the changes of the world, the seasonal changes and the coming of things.

  • According to traditional American Indian beliefs, the Creator made all the birds of the sky when the world was new. Of all the birds, the Creator chose the Eagle to be the leader and the master of the sky. The Eagle flies higher and sees better than any other bird. Therefore, its perspective is different from other creations that are held close to the earth. The Eagle spends more time in the higher elements of Father Sky than other birds and Father Sky is an element of the Spirit. The Eagle is considered to be a messenger to God. It was given the honor of carrying the prayers of man between the World of Earth and the World of the Spirit, where the Creator and grandfathers reside. The Bald Eagle is courageous, having foresight and leadership. The act of leadership is without compulsion, it is a burden that is entrusted and devoted to peace.
