Description
This is a beautiful Navajo handcrafted Tufa Cast Bolo Tie by Aaron Anderson. This outstanding work of art is crafted from Sterling Silver and features a large center Kingman Mine Turquoise Stone and two smaller Kingman Mine stone as the bottom of the bolo. The main construction of the bolo is Tufa Cast with added Sterling Silver roping. The main work at the bottom is also Tufa Cast in construction with the additional Sterling Silver and Turquoise art work. The main bolo measures approximately 3 5/16 inches top to bottom and is 2 1/4 inch wide at the widest point. The reverse is signed by Aaron noted as Aaron A. The bottom Silver work measures approximately 2 7/8 inches long inclusive of the Turquoise.
Total length of the leather including tips and turquoise dangles is 44 inches. Total weight of this piece including all Silver, Turquoise and Leather is 220.8 grams.
Tufa is porous rock made of volcanic ash used to form a casting mold. The Tufa Stone is cut to the desired size and shape. Once completed molten sterling silver is poured into the mold through a spruce hole. After the sterling silver cools and hardens, the carved design is visible and the Tufa leaves a textured surface on the metal. Jewelry such as a bracelets and rings are cast flat and then hammered into shape. The Tufa cast can only be used once.
This pieces come with the original Tufa Cast that was used to create main bolo work of art.
