Description

This is a beautiful Navajo handcrafted Tufa Cast Belt Buckle by Jason Begay. This work of art is crafted from Sterling Silver and features a Spanish Cross motif. The center cross is enhanced with a beautiful Green Royston Turquoise Mine stone. The reverse of the Belt Buckle is signed by Jason noted as JOB.

The face of the Belt Buckle measures 3 1/2 inches long and is 1 13/16 inches wide. The Belt Buckle can hold up to a size 1 1/2 inch belt.

Tufa is porous rock made of volcanic ash used to form a casting mold. The Tufa Stone is cut to the desired size and shape. Once completed molten sterling silver is poured into the mold through a spruce hole. After the sterling silver cools and hardens, the carved design is visible and the Tufa leaves a textured surface on the metal. Jewelry such as a bracelets and rings are cast flat and then hammered into shape. The Tufa cast can only be used once.

This Belt Buckle come with the original Tufa Cast that was used to create this work of art.
