Description

This is a Navajo handcrafted Necklace and Earrings set by award winning artist Calvin Begay. The necklace is created with inlay cuts of various brown to tan color Jasper, Polished Jet, Pipestone and Yellow Muscle Shell all crafted in Sterling Silver. The inside of the necklace measures approximately 16 inches in length. The individual works of art graduate from 3/8 inch long to 3/4 inch long. The reverse of the necklace is signed by Calvin and is stamped Sterling. The necklace has a total weight of 72.0 grams.

The earrings are also created with inlay cuts of various brown to tan color Jasper, Polished Jet, Pipestone and Yellow Muscle Shell all crafted in Sterling Silver. The settings are signed by Calvin and are stamped Sterling. The earrings dangle approximately 1 1/4 inches long. Total weight of the pair is 8.0 grams.

Calvin is an award winning artist, jeweler, designer and master craftsman. He was born in Gallup New Mexico and raised in Tohatchi in northwestern New Mexico. Calvin began jewelry making at the age of ten learning from his mother and uncle. He has since become a master in every aspect of the design and creation of Native American jewelry and has won numerous awards at the Gallup Inter Tribal Ceremonial, including best in Show. His jewelry has been featured in Arizona Highways and Southwest Art magazines. Calvin has a unique ability to translate traditional Navajo designs into elegant contemporary looks of wearable art.
