Description

This is a Navajo handcrafted Necklace and Earrings set by award winning artist Calvin Begay. The necklace is created with exacting inlay cuts of Polished Jet and Lab Created Opal. All Silver work on this piece is Sterling Silver. The Bear work of art is reversible with inlay on one side and Sterling silver art work on the other. The necklace measures approximately 18 inches in length. The center bear work of art adds an additional 1 7/8 inches to the neck profile. The reverse of the necklace is signed by Calvin and is stamped Sterling. The necklace has a total weight of 78.5 grams.

The earrings are also created with inlay Polished Jet and Lab Created Opal and are crafted in Sterling Silver. One setting is signed by Calvin and the other is stamped Sterling. The earrings dangle approximately 1 3/8 inches long. Total weight of the pair is 5.2 grams.

Calvin is an award winning artist, jeweler, designer and master craftsman. He was born in Gallup New Mexico and raised in Tohatchi in northwestern New Mexico. Calvin began jewelry making at the age of ten learning from his mother and uncle. He has since become a master in every aspect of the design and creation of Native American jewelry and has won numerous awards at the Gallup Inter Tribal Ceremonial, including best in Show. His jewelry has been featured in Arizona Highways and Southwest Art magazines. Calvin has a unique ability to translate traditional Navajo designs into elegant contemporary looks of wearable art. Calvins work is prized by collectors throughout the US and the world.
