This is a Navajo Handcrafted Kachina. The Kachina depicts The Cow. All artistry is hand carved and hand painted. This piece is signed by the artist noted as Begay and is signed Cow.

The Kachina measures approximately 9 5/8 inches tall from the bottom of the base to the top of the headdress and is 5 inches wide as measured from the widest point.

These spirits are embodied by Kachinas, (ka chee`nas). Kachinas represent the spirits of created beings like the soaring eagle and the cunning wolf. During religious ceremonies, the Native Americans dress up in the elaborate costumes of Kachinas in a celebration of the harmony of creation.
