Description

  • This is a Navajo handmade Pin. The Pin features the Kokopelli with Mine Number 8 Turquoise, Polished Jet and Lab Created Opal crafted in Sterling Silver. The reverse of the pin is signed by the Navajo Artist noted as V and is stamped Sterling.

  • The Pin measures approximately 1 7/8 inches tall at the tallest point.

  • The Anasazi or -Ancient Ones- were primarily farmers, growing corn, beans, and squash in the Four Corners area on the Colorado Plateau. Both the Basketmaker Period (dating at least from about 200 B.C.) and the Pueblo Period (dating from about 700 A.D.) include the humpbacked flute player among their supernaturals. The Kokopelli was thought to assist with the crops and was welcome during the planting and harvest season. No matter what form or how complete our understanding of his history, Kokopelli still brings wonder to our lives. The thin sound of his flute that once echoed off canyon walls still reverberates throughout the Southwest and the through the ages.
