  • This is a beautiful Beaver Fetish by Zuni Artist Daphne Quam. Daphne creates unique fetishes by combining the modern art of her Glass Art with the tradition of the Zuni Fetish. This Fetish is hand molded and hand etched glass. The eyes are Red Coral. The Fetish also has a gift of Pink Shell for the spirits and has Turquoise Nuggets that represent food for the journey.

  • The Beaver fetish measures approximately 2 3/8 inches from end to end and is about 1 1/8 inch tall as measured from the bottom to the top of the Turquoise nuggets. Total weight is 34.7 grams.

  • Zuni fetishes are hand-carved objects, which represent the spirits of animals or the forces of nature. The earliest fetishes are called Ahlashiwe or stone ancients by the Zunis. They were naturally formed stones that seemed to resemble people or animals, sometimes made more realistic with the features accentuated by a carver. Zunis believe that animals, as well as inanimate objects and the forces of nature, have a spirit force. It is believed that the carved animal fetishes host that spiritual force and, if treated properly, will help their owners to overcome the problems facing them.
