Dry Creek Turquoise was discovered on the Shoshone Indian Reservation near Battle Mountain, Nevada in 1993. The Turquoise is White to Powder Blue in color due the lack of heavy metals in this vein of Turquoise. Turquoise generally gets its color from the heavy metals in the ground where it forms. Blue Turquoise forms when there is copper present and Green Turquoise forms where iron is present. Dry Creek Turquoise formed where there are no heavy metals present which is a rare occurrence. To date no other vein of this Turquoise has been discovered.
