  • This is a beautiful Santo Domingo Heishi Shell, Spiny Oyster and Turquoise Necklace from the Santo Domingo Pueblo in New Mexico. All shell and turquoise work is hand cut and rounded and shaped by the artisan.

  • Total length of the necklace is approximately 30 inches long with the center Turquoise stone and artistry adding an additional 4 1/2 inches to the neck profile. Total weight of this necklace is 99.8 grams.

  • The exact meaning of the word Heishi (hee shee) is Shell Necklace. The word comes from the Keres language spoken by the Native Americans living in Kewa – now known as the Santo Domingo Pueblo. The artisans on the Santo Domingo Pueblo are acknowledged to be the masters of this beautiful art form created out of their societal heritage.
