Description

  • This is a Zuni Necklace by noted artists Ruddell and Nancy Laconsello. The necklace features a Multi Colored Bird on Branch with Pink Flower. The Zuni artists have hand cut and inlaid Red Coral, Gaspeite, Polished Jet, Lapis, Pink Shell and Mother of Pearl to create the design. All work is done in Sterling Silver.

  • The reverse of the necklace is signed by the Zuni artist noted as RN Laconsello and is marked Sterling and Zuni. The lower pendant measures approximately 1 3/4 inch long by 1 1/2 inch wide at the longest and widest points. The upper Sterling Silver work is approximately 2 inches from side to side. Overall length of the necklace is 17 inches. Total weight of this piece is 27.8 grams.

  • Considered to be some of the finest Zuni inlay artists, Ruddell and Nancy have become masters of their craft. Nancy and Ruddell Laconsello have been making jewelry together since tthey were married in 1976. Having learned from her father, Nancy had been doing inlay for several years prior to that. Ruddell is basically self-taught as he learned simply by watching others. Nancy does all of the inlay work; Ruddell does the designing, silver work, polishing and the etching of the fine lines that give the inlaid materials added definition. The artists stamp their pieces RN Laconsello, Sterling, Zuni.
