Description

  • This is a Navajo Handcrafted Key Ring. The handcrafted piece is Sterling Silver with Kokopelli artistry. The reverse of the Key Ring is signed by the Navajo artist RB and is stamped Sterling.

  • The complete Key Ring measures 2 1/4 inch tall by 1 inch wide at the widest point. Total weight of the Key Ring and handcrafted art work is 13.6 grams.

  • The Kokopelli was regarded as a fertility symbol. The Anasazi or "Ancient Ones" were primarily farmers, growing corn, beans, and squash in the Four Corners area on the Colorado Plateau. Both the Basketmaker Period (dating at least from about 200 B.C.) and the Pueblo Period (dating from about 700 A.D.) include the humpbacked flute player among their deities or supernaturals. As a fertility symbol, he was welcome during corn-planting season. No matter what form or how complete our understanding of his history, Kokopelli still brings wonnder to our lives. The thin sound of his flute that once echoed off canyon walls must still be reverberating around the Southwest and through the ages.
